Nicola is a storyteller, presenter, and performer and now turning her creativity into purpose as the founder of The Ornament Exchange Company, a business reimagining Christmas through a more sustainable lens.
After years of sitting on the idea, Nicola finally took the leap to bring it to life. Driven by a growing awareness of waste and overconsumption, she created a solution that challenges the norm: renting Christmas decorations instead of buying them new each year.
Her concept is simple, but impactful.
Every festive season, shops are filled with trend-led, plastic-heavy decorations. Many used briefly, then stored away or thrown out as trends change. Nicola saw an opportunity to break that cycle and offer something more thoughtful.
The Ornament Exchange Company is built on reuse, community, and conscious living. All decorations are pre-loved, carefully sourced from charity shops and resale platforms, giving them a second life. Customers can rent curated collections, swap styles each year, and even donate their own unused decorations, reducing waste while still enjoying the magic of something “new.”
Inspired by Stacey Solomon, Nicola brings a down-to-earth, hands-on approach to everything she does. She believes in creating beautiful spaces, meaningful traditions, and lasting memories without compromising sustainability.
Her mission is clear:
to create a more sustainable way to bring festive sparkle into people’s homes.
