Meet Shamime — The Community Leader Transforming Women’s Health Through Belonging and Empowerment

Shamime Jan is the Founder and Director of Bollyfit Active CIC, a community-led organisation dedicated to empowering women through culturally responsive health, wellbeing, and fitness programmes. With nearly 30 years of experience working within communities, Shamime has built a career centred on inclusion, connection, and creating spaces where women can feel seen, supported, and valued.
At the heart of Shamime’s work is a simple but powerful belief: real transformation begins with belonging. Through her programmes, she addresses health inequalities by creating safe, inclusive environments where women from all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, and ages can build confidence, improve their wellbeing, and discover their own leadership potential.
Shamime is the creator of the BELONG Method™, a scalable framework that places belonging at the centre of behaviour change. Her approach recognises that when women feel accepted and connected, they are far more likely to take positive steps toward improving their health, confidence, and future.
Rather than focusing solely on fitness or outcomes, Shamime’s work is about deeper transformation, helping women unlock potential, build self-belief, and create positive ripple effects within their families and communities. Her vision extends beyond individual progress, aiming to inspire long-term, generational change.
Inspired by compassion, service, and the principle of treating every person with dignity and respect, Shamime’s leadership is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of background or circumstance.
But Shamime’s mission goes beyond health and wellbeing. It’s about reshaping how communities support women — and ensuring that belonging is never a barrier to becoming.
Her mindset is simple but powerful: when people feel they belong, they begin to thrive.
Three Words To Describe Shamime: Compassionate. Visionary. Transformational.
Shamime joins The Legacy Bench ready to share her story, connect with changemakers, and continue building spaces where women can grow, lead, and thrive through the power of belonging.
