A Big Week For Legacy Bench Guest William Vickers

Before pursuing sports journalism, Will was a PE teacher at an international school in China and an aspiring elite distance runner, training with ambitions of competing at the highest level.

But after suffering serious foot injuries and undergoing multiple surgeries, he was forced to confront a reality he never expected.

At his lowest point, Will found himself housebound, searching for a new purpose after losing the sport that had defined so much of his life.

Then boxing entered the picture. Inspired by watching Anthony Joshua, Will discovered a new outlet for his passion. If he could no longer compete in sport physically, he would immerse himself in it through storytelling. What started as a love for boxing quickly evolved into FaceBox, his own media platform dedicated to interviews, breaking news, fighter features, and ringside reporting.

This week marked another major milestone on that journey.

Will had his first World Cup preview published nationally in print, a significant achievement for an aspiring journalist who rebuilt his future through determination, resilience, and a passion for sports writing.

And the momentum continues.

This week, he’ll also be attending the Eddie Hall vs Fury press conference, continuing to build experience and connections within the sports media industry as he works towards his long-term vision of growing FaceBox into a recognised boxing media brand.

Will’s story is proof that sometimes life’s biggest setbacks can lead you towards a completely different path. Not the one you planned. But perhaps the one you were meant to find.

Congratulations, Will. Another fantastic step forward in what is becoming an inspiring journey.
