From Self-Doubt to Self-Belief: The Story Behind Aliya Rajah

In her Legacy Bench conversation, Aliya Rajah shares a story shaped by courage, confidence, and a belief that the ability to communicate well can transform careers and lives. As an Executive Presence and Public Speaking Coach, Aliya helps professionals become more visible, influential, and confident, equipping them with the skills to lead with authenticity and impact.

But for Aliya, confidence was not something she always possessed, it was something she had to build.

After moving to the UAE, Aliya found herself starting over in a country where she knew very few people. Building a business from scratch meant stepping outside her comfort zone every day, overcoming self-doubt, learning to network, speaking publicly, and creating opportunities where none previously existed.

Those experiences became the foundation of her work.

Today, through AR Consulting, Aliya works with professionals, leaders, and organisations across the UK and UAE, helping individuals communicate with greater confidence and develop the executive presence needed to unlock new opportunities. Through coaching programmes and workshops, she empowers people to find their voice, overcome imposter syndrome, and lead with clarity and conviction.

At the heart of Aliya’s work is a simple yet powerful belief:

Talent alone is not enough if people never have the confidence to let it be seen.

She is particularly passionate about helping organisations close what she calls the “visibility gap”—the difference between being capable and being recognised. Too often, she believes, highly talented individuals are overlooked because they have never been taught the communication, confidence, and presence skills that influence career progression.

For Aliya, these are not qualities people are simply born with. They are skills that can be learned, practised, and developed.

Having experienced her own journey from uncertainty to confidence, she understands firsthand how transformative it can be when someone begins to believe in their own voice. That perspective now shapes every conversation, coaching session, and workshop she delivers.

At her core, Aliya represents confident leadership. Someone who believes that when people learn to communicate with authenticity and self-belief, they create opportunities not only for themselves, but for those around them.

Her story is a reminder that confidence is rarely something we discover. More often, it is something we choose to build. One conversation, one opportunity, and one courageous step at a time.
